MDMA Rehab Centers
MDMA, ecstasy, Molly, X—however you might refer to the drug, it can certainly take hold of your life before you realize it. Although some studies suggest MDMA does not cause physical dependence to the degree that other drugs do, the habit of many users satisfies the criteria of a substance use disorder. Some substance use disorder symptoms that often apply to MDMA users include:
- Difficulty not taking it, even after they express a desire to stop
- Not being able to perform life obligations when not using the drug
- Fatigue
- Insomnia
- Developing tolerance, meaning they must take larger doses over time to experience the same effects
- Sadness
- Stress
- Irritability
No matter what some studies conclude about MDMA use, the last thing the staff at Resurge will do is minimize or doubt your lived experience. When you encounter a challenge like substance use disorder, you deserve compassionate, evidence-based care. Resurge is one of the premier MDMA drug rehab centers in the Cincinnati area and is proud to offer judgment-free, effective addiction treatment. Call us at 855-729-5690 if you’re ready to get started.
How MDMA Affects the Brain
Ecstasy increases the activity of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine in the brain. Put simply, these are feel-good neurotransmitters that also help regulate certain physiological functions. Your brain already produces these chemicals, but natural production takes a backseat when MDMA is used. It may take some time for your brain to resume production afterward, which often leads to feelings of sadness and lethargy among users.
There is some indication that long-term MDMA use can indefinitely stunt the natural production of serotonin. Because of the short-term and long-term brain changes MDMA use can bring about, seeking effective MDMA rehab centers to treat this addiction is important. Resurge is proud to be a leading treatment facility for substance use disorder in Cincinnati; we’re committed to crafting an individualized treatment plan for each client. We explain our treatment options and features in more detail below.
What to Expect if a Court Orders Rehab
If you or a loved one has been ordered by a court of law to receive treatment for substance use disorder, you might be feeling many intense emotions. Our staff knows what you’re going through and, to that end, has helped countless clients satisfy their legal requirements while walking the path to recovery. We employ a fantastic court liaison who thoroughly understands the legal process and stringent requirements.
Rehab centers for MDMA users sometimes have connections with local drug courts, and Resurge is a prime example of that. Our court liaison can connect clients with SNAP benefits, sober living options, food pantries, and other crucial resources as they build a foundation for their sober life. Our Cincinnati facility has a special section for clients undergoing court-ordered rehab so they can stay on top of their priorities. Having substance use treatment as part of a court order or plea deal can be a profound opportunity for you to realize the life you’ve always deserved.
Intensive Outpatient vs. Regular Outpatient
Not everyone with a substance use disorder needs the same level of care. In many cases, individuals with active addiction need round-the-clock care from medical personnel in an inpatient facility. Such clients often face severe withdrawal symptoms and need a variety of medical interventions to keep these symptoms in check. While Resurge does not offer inpatient services, we have good relationships with a number of great facilities who can help you get to a more stable position.
Our facility offers outpatient treatment, which allows clients to return home at the end of each day’s activities. This lets many of them hold down jobs and tend to familial obligations. Within outpatient services, however, there are different levels of care. We offer two:
- Intensive outpatient: Clients in this outpatient tier must commit to treatment at least three days per week for a total of nine hours. Our intensive outpatient program is ideal for clients whose substance use disorder can be described as mild to moderate; they have completed detox but may not be ready to dive back into the real world on a full-time basis. Court-ordered treatment often involves starting with the intensive outpatient level.
- Outpatient: A step down from intensive outpatient, regular outpatient treatment doesn’t usually ask more than a few hours of time per week from clients. Some people describe regular outpatient treatment as the maintenance phase for those living with substance use disorder, a lifelong condition.
Therapeutic Strategies We Use
There’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all treatment plan for MDMA addiction treatment. Most clients receive numerous therapeutic interventions to give them the best chance for long-term sobriety.
Motivational Interviewing
This type of talk therapy aims to help clients realize their internal motivations for changing their behaviors. Many people living with substance use disorder become discouraged over time, losing the belief that things can get better. Motivational interviewing helps clients understand the benefits of getting sober.
Group Therapy
Almost all clients attend group therapy at one point. Being around other people who understand the effects of substance use disorder can be essential for developing coping strategies; clients can also hone social skills with their peers. Resurge is proud to offer LGBTQ+ cohorts to help members of that community feel comfortable.
Couples Therapy
The client with substance use disorder is not the only one affected by the condition. Substance use disorder can damage the relationship between partners such that they need help rekindling feelings. Having a supportive partner at home is also important for clients’ recovery.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a common type of talk therapy used for a wide variety of psychological conditions. In the context of substance use disorder, it focuses on helping clients recognize thought patterns that often coincide with substance cravings. Clients learn how to refocus these unhelpful thoughts into more helpful ways of thinking.
